Clipper 07-08 started from the host port of Liverpool on 16 September 2007. The boats covered 35,000 miles of ocean racing before returning to Liverpool on 5 July 2008 as the city was in the height of its celebrations as the European Capital of Culture. Clipper 07-08 was the fourth time a boat from Liverpool had took part in the race.

William Little
Age 19, Student
When Will, a student from Wallasey, Merseyside, was left some inheritance money he knew exactly what he wanted to spend it on. “I have been a keen dinghy sailor from the age of eight and have worked my way up through the ranks and I’m now a qualified RYA Dinghy instructor,” he says. “Having watched the Clipper Race leaving the Mersey at the start of the last couple of races I have dreamt of being part of it, but thought I would have to be older than I am to compete. I was delighted when I found out that you only had to be 18 prior to the start of the race.”
Getting together the money for his great adventure presented Will with his first challenge. He had to give a presentation to explain how he was going to use the funds he’d been left for something that would be life changing. In addition to his inheritance he has raised the cash with car boot sales and West Cheshire Sailing Club, of which he is a member, has also helped him to raise the money to follow his dream.
